TwinMind: meeting notes you can keep asking questions about

TwinMind is an AI assistant that turns conversations into notes and helps retrieve information from them. It serves people with frequent meetings who need to confirm decisions and tasks later; the desktop app also inserts dictated text into the app they are using.

Form your own approach first, then explore the reasoning to check trade-offs and validation you may have missed. There is no single right answer.

DESIGN QUESTION

How can two start controls show one clear capture state?

You are designing the start prompt for a meeting notes tool. A user receives both a calendar reminder and a detected-call prompt. They select one and see the other a few minutes later, unsure whether capture is duplicated.

  1. Allow only one active record per meeting. Make preparing, capturing, paused and ended distinguishable. An active record is a session that has not ended and can continue receiving audio.
  2. Walk through starting and immediately pausing, selecting Start twice, and starting another meeting after ending one. Do not assume network responses are immediate.
  3. Deliver a state sketch, one message for each state and a proposal for coordinating the two entry points. Define an observation task to check whether users can tell if capture is active.
Explore the reasoning
  1. Separate intention from actual state. Selecting Start sends a request; it does not justify immediately showing that capture is active.
  2. Give both entry points a common meeting identity. Compare merging prompts with keeping both while synchronizing state. Do not merge different meetings merely because their times are close.
  3. Distinguish pause from end: pause retains a way to continue, while starting after an end creates a new record. Give pending requests clear feedback.
  4. Ask observers to follow the sequence, state the current status and identify the evidence they used. Record where they misjudge it and adjust wording or presentation. This observation has not been carried out.
