The news: a new starting point for business tasks
On October 20, 2026, Google announced Gemini updates for small-business owners, including a hub for business tasks, brand-visual tools, marketing and finance skills, and new connected apps. The announcement says these features will roll out globally to Gemini app users over the following days.
Brand materials can help maintain a visual style, while connected apps let tasks draw on existing business information. A new hub does not mean every account already has every feature, and it does not remove each connected app’s account requirements. This article follows one path already covered in official documentation: turning customer reviews from Google Business Profile into items to address.
The benefit: find recurring issues first
A small shop’s reviews may be spread across different dates: one customer mentions weekend queues, another praises a staff member, and another could not understand the pickup process. Beyond replying individually, the owner needs to see which issues recur and which need a closer look at the original review.
Gemini’s Business Profile connection supports summarizing review themes, drafting replies and checking business performance. Here is a suggested use case: organize several recent reviews into a list of themes, supporting reviews and points to confirm, then decide whether opening information or a service process needs to change. The list starts a discussion; it does not replace the original reviews or prove that a change will increase sales.
Keeping the source material and the next step in one conversation can reduce some copying and organizing. A useful result should tell the owner which feedback to inspect and what information is missing, rather than offer only generic business advice.
How to use it: organize reviews before deciding on a reply
This path uses the Gemini web app. According to the current help page, you must be at least 18, sign in with the personal Google account associated with your Business Profile, own or manage only one verified Business Profile, and have Keep Activity turned on. Work or school accounts and accounts managing multiple verified profiles are not eligible for this connection. Your location must also support the Gemini web app.
- Connect the right Business Profile. After signing in, ask about your business. If Gemini does not use the relevant app, include @Google Business Profile in the prompt. If it is not connected yet, follow the on-screen connection steps. If the new business hub is absent, check the capabilities actually available to your account; a rollout announcement does not mean your account has received the update.
- Read the feedback first. Suggested prompt: “@Google Business Profile Please identify three recurring themes in recent reviews and list the reviews supporting each one. Mark gaps as needing confirmation. Do not publish anything yet.” Three is an example request, not a reason to invent themes when there are too few reviews.
- Choose one review and draft a reply. Open the original review, check what the customer described, then request a draft. For example, acknowledge unclear pickup instructions and explain the pickup method you have verified. Do not let the draft invent compensation promises or improvements that have not been made.
- Check the draft separately from any public action. The official connection also supports actions such as creating and publishing Business Profile posts; this small task ends with checking a draft. Before using it publicly, confirm the facts, tone and exact scope of the action. You can manage the connection in Connected Apps Settings.
