1. What the guide describes: start from WeCom and bring back the result

Tencent’s feature guide updated on October 14 describes giving WorkBuddy chat records, documents and other material, then returning generated files or content to WeCom.

For example, you can turn an internal group discussion into a requirements document, or extract actions from meeting materials. The connection works within the enterprise’s WeCom environment. Access remains subject to your authorization and existing permissions; it does not give AI access to every colleague’s information.

Availability depends on enterprise services, accounts and seats. The messaging capability currently supports internal one-to-one and group chats. It is not a general assistant for personal WeChat or external customer groups.

2. How it helps: discussions have a starting point, and results have a destination

An event plan may be scattered across dozens of group messages: one person changes the time, another adds a budget, and someone sends a venue spreadsheet. Manual preparation involves more than writing a document. You have to collect the material, separate decisions from open questions and return the result to the people who will use it.

This integration lets a task start with the existing work material. Give it a specific discussion, ask for a requirements list and return the result to colleagues. It can reduce the steps needed to move material around. Important decisions still need to be checked against the original messages.

A sensible first task has a small, clear scope: summarize this afternoon’s discussion about the event time, rather than asking for a summary of the entire company’s progress. Clear boundaries make omissions and misunderstandings easier to spot.

3. How to use it: turn a short internal discussion into a requirements list

The official setup guide requires WeCom desktop 5.0.12 or later, WorkBuddy 5.8.0 or later, enterprise activation and an available seat. Verified enterprises can claim, request or purchase access as eligible; trial allowances depend on the enterprise page.

  1. Find the entry point and confirm access. Open WorkBuddy in the WeCom sidebar and follow the claim or request instructions. After claiming access, open the WorkBuddy bot conversation that appears in the WeCom chat list. If you lack a seat, contact an administrator rather than repeatedly reinstalling.
  2. Use the same identity when you need the desktop client. Sign into WorkBuddy with the same account and enterprise as desktop WeCom, then authorize access. Changing accounts stops running tasks, so wait for existing work to finish first.
  3. Provide a specific set of materials. Forward the relevant chat records to that bot or reference the required files in the conversation. Wait until attachments are ready. You might ask: “Turn this event discussion into a requirements list with confirmed decisions, open questions, owners and dates. Leave anything the source does not specify blank. Do not send it to anyone yet.”
  4. Check the output. Compare dates, names and decisions with the original messages. One person’s suggestion is not automatically a team decision. Identify the particular item when requesting a correction.
  5. Return it to colleagues after checking. Before sending a file or message, check the recipient, group and content, then complete the required confirmation. Verify that the result actually arrived in the target conversation.

If accounts do not match, authorization has expired or a file cannot be read, address that specific cause. AI cannot read a document you cannot access; someone with permission will need to share suitable material.
