What changed in 5.8.3

WorkBuddy is Tencent's AI work tool. Users describe a task in natural language, and it processes material to produce documents, spreadsheets, and other files. Its 5.8.3 release notes, dated October 19, 2026, describe memory optimizations for the local sandbox and a fix for freezes caused by memory growth after long runtimes. The sandbox is the isolated environment used to execute tasks; this change concerns execution stability, rather than a new writing or analysis capability.

The same release also fixes voice-related issues and improves connection switching in environments using enterprise proxies and system certificates. These are claims from the official release notes, without independent performance measurements. They do not establish that every slowdown is fixed or that old tasks will recover automatically.

Why it matters for long-running work

If you use WorkBuddy to organize multiple files or generate reports, continued execution affects whether the work can be delivered. A fix targeting memory growth is especially relevant to users experiencing that type of freeze. An unresponsive interface should not automatically be blamed on a poorly written prompt.

People working on enterprise networks may also benefit from checking the proxy and system-certificate fixes. However, a more stable connection does not prove that a task is complete. The useful check is still to open the output and verify its contents and files, rather than relying on the conversation ending or the interface responding again.

Check the version, then check the output

Use a weekly-report task as an example of what to check around an update. This is a suggested checking procedure, not a measured improvement in stability.

  1. Record the problem and any existing output. If an earlier task froze but the app remains usable, open the output area on the right and check whether the report exists. Its menu lets you open the containing folder, open the file in its default application, or save a copy. Note which sections or tables are incomplete so you can distinguish old files from new ones if work is repeated.
  2. Check for an available update. After signing in, click your avatar at the bottom left and choose Check for updates. You can also view the version and check for updates under About in settings. Confirm whether your version includes the 5.8.3 fixes, then follow the app's actual update instructions. If you already use a newer version, there is no need to downgrade to match this article.
  3. Use a task whose output you can verify. Prepare three source files for a weekly report. On the task creation page, drag the files into the input box or add them with the upload button. Describe the goal and output format, then start the task. For example: “Create a weekly report from these three files. Separate completed work, incomplete work, and items needing confirmation. Do not invent information missing from the files.” Open the resulting output and check its files and contents. This helps establish whether that output is usable; it is not a stress test or proof that other long tasks will never freeze.
  4. Report reproducible details if the problem remains. Following the official feedback instructions, choose Feedback from the avatar menu or use the feedback form under Get help in settings. Include the current version, runtime, point of failure, expected and actual behavior, and whether output files exist. After describing the issue, you can use Smart diagnosis. Running it does not submit feedback; you still need to complete and submit the form.
