What changed: enterprise users can create custom plugins
On October 21, 2026, Kimi Work announced in its 3.2.18 release notes that enterprise users can create custom plugins and upload them to the plugin marketplace. Kimi Work is a desktop AI assistant for files and office tasks. A plugin groups reusable capabilities behind one entry point.
The change concerns enterprise users' permission to create plugins. Personal plugin creation already has its own guide, so these capabilities should not all be treated as new on that date. The documentation also separates personal plugins from applications to the official marketplace: publication requires review and does not happen automatically when a plugin is generated.
Why it helps: keep recurring instructions in one place
Suppose you turn interview notes into four sections each week: user goals, difficulties, supporting quotes and open questions. Rewriting the same instructions makes it easy to omit a condition such as “do not invent missing evidence.” You could try turning those rules into a plugin and supplying different notes each time. This is a suggested use; check its quality against actual material.
The plugin keeps stable instructions while the input changes. A narrow first task is easier to inspect. For example, organize one interview before also asking it to search, send email and update team documents. The resulting output is easier to check.
How to start: make a small plugin for your own use
You need the latest Kimi Work desktop app and the relevant account access. The following creation and validation steps follow the official personal plugin guide. The marketplace application below is for personal plugins seeking official publication; enterprise upload procedures are outside this tutorial.
- Type “/” in a conversation to invoke the built-in Plugin Builder, or choose Custom plugin in the marketplace. It turns your requirements into a plugin.
- Try: “Create a plugin for organizing interview notes. From the notes I provide, output user goals, difficulties, supporting quotes and open questions. Mark missing information as unconfirmed; do not invent quotes.” This is a suggested input. Start with sample material you are allowed to give the tool.
- After creation and checks finish, find the plugin under Plugins → Personal, click “+” to install it, then invoke it with “/”. Generation and installation are separate steps.
- Supply a short note: “The user manually combines three spreadsheets each week; the time needed is not stated.” Check that it retains “three spreadsheets” and treats the time as unknown. If it invents “two hours,” revise the instructions and test again.
- To apply to the official marketplace, complete basic testing, then follow the publication guide: use the envelope button on the details page to submit an application and contact email, and wait for evaluation. Successful personal use is preparation for that application.
