The news: a browser window into a local session

On October 14, 2026, Kimi Code Desktop 1.1.0 added Remote Control. Kimi Code is an assistant for coding tasks. The update turns another device into a control window for an existing computer, where the files and commands continue to run. Official changelog

It is useful when you have started work on a computer and need to step away. You need a membership tier with Kimi Code benefits, and the computer must remain awake, online and running Desktop. Remote Control requirements

The benefit: continue the next step after waiting

Imagine that you are checking broken links on a personal website, but need to move to another office before the task finishes. Remote access lets you see how the check is progressing and send instructions to clarify its scope.

A suggested small task is: “List broken links and the files containing them. Do not change anything yet.” Check one reported problem before deciding whether to fix it. The benefit is continuity in the same task without describing the project again when you change devices. It does not mean that work can continue while the computer sleeps.

How to use it: connect and follow one check

  1. In Desktop on the original computer, enable Settings → Remote Control. Open the displayed QR code or link in a browser on the other device. Use the same Kimi account on both devices and follow the connection prompt.
  2. Open an existing session and send the suggested read-only check. You can view progress, expand tool inputs and outputs, and approve or reject confirmation requests.
  3. Use a reported file path to verify one link. To stop a running task, use the stop action; closing the remote web page does not stop it on the computer. Disable Remote Control in Desktop settings when you no longer need access.

The entry link gives access to your computer, so do not forward it. The connection path and execution location come from the official instructions; the link-checking task is an editorial suggestion.
